River Country - Vintage WDW

As promised, here is part one of my River Country video podcast. This is a compilation of pictures and videos I collected of the internet over the years. I wish I could remember where I got them all from to give everyone proper credit.

River Country was Walt Disney World's premier water park located on Bay Lake. The theming of the "Old Swimmin' Hole" was top notch. With the views of the Contemporary resort in the background, added a nice contrast. Kind of like seeing Tomorrowland from Main Street USA.

Whoop N' Holler Hollow: Two water slides, one was actually longer than the other. (160 ft and 260ft)

Slippery Slide Falls: Two short water slides that dropped you into a pool (which was always warmer than Bay Cove). The drop seemed very high when I was young, and the drop is where the "falls" come in to play with the name.

White Water Rapids: A 330 foot, tube ride. By no means was this a lazy river, it had drops and whirlpools you could get stuck in. My brothers and I had a game to see who could stay on the rapids the longest. A Disney Cast Member would usually push you along if you floated to long in one area.

Bay Cove: Had the tire swing, the Boom Swing, the zip line.

Cypress Point Nature Trail: Go see the birds as you walk along a trail near River Country.

All in all, I had a lot of great memories from River Country, it was the first "Water Park" I had ever been to, the first water slide I had ever gone on, and the first tube ride.

Enjoy the video! Part two will be posted tomorrow.
